OTTAWA — Mike Duffy was at his imperious best.
Prosecutor Mark Holmes was exploring with the beleaguered Prince Edward Island senator if it was true, as has been widely reported, that he had for years, to put it kindly, actively chased a seat in the Red Chamber.
Was it an appointment he sought?, Holmes inquired early on in his cross-examination Wednesday.
“Never,” shuddered Duffy.
“Lobbied for?”
“Never,” said Duffy.
“Made … known to the Conservatives?”
“Never.”
“The Liberal Party?”
“Never.”
But what about all that stuff in the press?, Holmes asked.
